Grace Montgomery from Northern Regional College has been named Health & Well-being Learner of the Year at the OCN 2026 Learning Endeavour Awards, in recognition of her determination, resilience, and commitment to personal growth through learning.
Despite being blind from birth, Grace has embraced every opportunity to learn and develop, demonstrating remarkable perseverance and a positive attitude throughout her educational journey. Her confidence and enthusiasm for learning have grown significantly, enabling her to achieve both personal and academic success.
The OCN Entry Level Diploma in Developing Skills for Life has had a transformative impact on Grace, helping her rediscover her love of learning while developing valuable skills and confidence. Through the programme, she has made significant progress not only academically but also in her personal development, gaining the confidence to take on new challenges and pursue her ambitions.
Grace has also had opportunities to showcase her talents and interests, including her passion for music and languages. These experiences have further strengthened her confidence and motivated her to continue striving towards her goals.
