Fatma from People 1st, has been named Essential Skills Learner of the Year at the OCN 2026 Learning Endeavour Awards. This award recognises Fatma’s outstanding commitment to developing essential skills, overcoming challenges and embracing very opportunities to enhance her confidence, learning and future career prospects.
As a highly motivated learner, Fatma has completed OCN NI qualifications in Application of Number (Entry Level 3 to Level 2), ICT (Level 2), and Communication (Entry Level - Level 2).
Having arrived from Gaza with limited English language skills, Fatma has demonstrated remarkable resilience and perseverance. Through hard work and a strong commitment to her studies, she has made exceptional progress, building the skills and confidence needed to pursue her ambition
Fatma's success is a testament to her determination to create new opportunities for herself through education. She is now working towards her goal of progressing into further education and pursuing a future career as a paramedic, where she hopes to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
