Our approach to quality assurance is comprehensive and includes the following key elements.

Centre Approval and Monitoring

We carefully select and approve Centres to deliver our Qualifications and Endorsed Courses. Each approved Centre undergoes a thorough evaluation process to ensure that they have the appropriate resources, systems, and expertise in place. Regular monitoring visits and reviews help us maintain high standards and provide ongoing support to our Centres. 

Qualification Design and Development

Our Qualifications are developed in close consultation with employers, educators, and industry experts. This ensures that they are relevant, up to date, and aligned with the needs of learners and the NI Economy. Every Qualification is designed to meet the requirements set out by the relevant regulatory authorities. 

Internal and External Moderation

To ensure consistent assessment standards, we require Centres to have robust internal quality assurance processes in place. This is supported by external moderation conducted by OCN’s team of qualified External Quality Assurers, who verify that assessment decisions are fair, reliable, and meet the required standard.

Standardisation

We carry out regular standardisation to ensure that the interpretation of Qualification requirements is consistent across all Centres. This helps to maintain fairness and uniformity in the assessment of learners. 

Continuous Improvement

We are committed to continuous improvement and regularly review our processes, Qualifications, and services to ensure they meet the changing needs of learners, employers, and the wider education sector.
