About us

Partnerships

OCN NI forms strategic partnerships with organisations that share our mission and vision. These collaborations are grounded in shared values and a commitment to making a tangible impact. By working together, we exchange expertise, insights, and resources to achieve common goals that benefit communities and industries alike. Our partnerships drive real-life outcomes.

For example, we utilise qualifications to enhance education, conduct joint research to improve access to learning tools, and deliver workshops that empower individuals. These alliances strengthen our ability to create meaningful opportunities and expand our reach.

NOCN

OCN NI and NOCN have worked together for over 30 years, with a formal partnership in place for the last ten years. The two organisations offer each other’s qualifications, opening more choice and expertise to centres across the UK.

Open University

The Open University (OU) is a global leader in higher education operating out of the United Kingdom & Ireland. OCN NI and the OU together will develop and promote progression pathways that will allow learners to advance from OCN qualifications to higher education programmes with The Open University, supporting students in Northern Ireland to realise their full potential.

Learning and Work Institute

The Learning and Work Institute (L&WI) are an independent policy, research and development organisation dedicated to lifelong learning, full employment and inclusion.

Working with partners, L&WI inspires people to learn and helps transform people’s experiences of education and employment. What they do benefits individuals, families and the wider economy.

Stranmillis University College

The partnership between Open College Network Northern Ireland (OCN NI) and Stranmillis College is a significant collaboration aimed at understanding the impact of OCN qualifications on the Northern Ireland market. Through joint research initiatives, they have been able to analyse how these qualifications contribute to the local economy, enhance employability, and support lifelong learning. This partnership underscores the commitment of both institutions to fostering an inclusive and skilled workforce, ensuring that educational qualifications are aligned with the needs of the market and beneficial for learners across Northern Ireland.
