OCN NI is proud to announce its new status as the first Associate Member of the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), under their newly launched membership strategy. This marks a significant milestone in vocational education for OCN NI learners and centres.
JCQ is a UK-based community interest company that represents the largest providers of qualifications in the UK. JCQ serves as a single voice on examination administration, policies, regulations, and the maintenance of consistent standards across awarding organisations.
As Northern Ireland’s largest vocational awarding body, OCN NI will now gain access to JCQs dynamic community, fostering enhanced opportunities to improve the vocational qualification landscape. This membership also provides OCN NI with valuable insights into government departments, teacher unions, professional associations, and further and higher education bodies. Access to JCQ’s training, administrative resources, and standardised exam procedures, further reinforces OCN’s determination to drive greater alignment across the vocational education sector.
Martin Flynn, OCN Chief Executive, said:
“We are delighted to join JCQ as its first Associate Member. As Northern Ireland’s largest Vocational Awarding Body, this recognition reflects OCN NI’s commitment to excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement in vocational education. By aligning with JCQ’s systems and processes, we can ensure high standards and consistent practice across the qualifications landscape. We look forward to working closely with JCQ and fellow members to support learners and tutors/teachers across Northern Ireland and beyond.”
Margaret Farragher, JCQ Chief Executive, said:
“It is such a pleasure and a significant milestone for JCQ to welcome OCN NI as its first associate member. We launched the new associate membership scheme as part of JCQ’s strategy, and it opens the door for more awarding organisations to access JCQ’s expertise and sector-leading guidance. We look forward to working with OCN NI and welcoming more associate members. This will enable us to bring even greater consistency in administrative processes across all qualifications, which will be a huge benefit to schools and colleges.”
